Warehouse automation companies UK operators can engage in 2026 are the system integrators, robot manufacturers, storage-system vendors and forklift automation specialists that design, install and support automated handling on British sites, and this directory lists 22 of them with the same eight facts checked for each. Every field comes from the company's own website, a fetched trade report or Companies House on 23 September 2026; where a page does not say, the entry reads not stated. Nothing is ranked and no prices are quoted.

Warehouse automation is not one market. Goods-to-person systems (AutoStore and its partners, Exotec, Ocado Intelligent Automation) bring totes to a picker. Shuttle and crane AS/RS (Dematic, Swisslog, KNAPP, TGW, SSI SCHAEFER, Mecalux, Logistex) store pallets and cases at height. Mobile robots (Locus Robotics, Guidance Automation, MiR through its UK distributor) move totes, carts and pallets. Autonomous forklifts (FlyWei) automate the pallet moves a manual truck does today. Racking and mezzanine specialists (Avanta, SEC Group) prepare the building for all of the above, and software-led integrators (Keymas, Autrix, MotionTech, Wise Robotics) tie it together.

The fields that separate them are the same as for any capital system: where the company is based and serviced from, what it actually sells (its own product or someone else's), whether mobile robots use natural-feature navigation or fixed infrastructure, whether an open VDA 5050 interface is stated, and whether the commercial route includes hire, lease or robots-as-a-service. Only FlyWei states VDA 5050 in this list.

How this directory was compiled

Each entry carries the same eight fields. Every value was read from the supplier’s own website, a fetched trade report or the Companies House register on 23 September 2026, and the source is named under each entry. Where a page does not state a fact the field reads “Not stated”; we did not fill gaps from memory or from third-party directories. Suppliers are grouped by channel, not ranked, and no prices, market shares or install counts are quoted because none of the suppliers publishes them in a comparable form.

FlyWei’s own entry is held to the same rule: a London-registered, vendor-neutral integrator that runs mixed fleets on the M4 fleet manager over VDA 5050, deploys across the UK, and does not publish prices. What does a warehouse automation company do?

A warehouse automation company designs, supplies, installs and supports equipment and software that moves, stores or picks goods with less manual handling. Dealers and distributors resell a maker's range with local service. Some companies are two of these at once, which is why this directory records what each one actually sells.

What types of warehouse automation are there?

Five broad types: goods-to-person systems that bring totes to a fixed picking station; automated storage and retrieval systems using shuttles or cranes; conveyor and sortation; mobile robots that carry totes, carts or pallets; and autonomous forklifts that lift, stack and transport pallets the way a manual truck does. Most UK projects mix two or more. Autonomous forklifts are the type that automates existing pallet flows without rebuilding the warehouse, which is the work FlyWei does.

How much does warehouse automation cost?

The companies in this directory do not publish system prices, and FlyWei does not either, because cost depends on throughput, storage height, the number of robots or trucks, integration with the WMS and the building itself. A fixed AS/RS is a construction project; an autonomous forklift fleet is an equipment and software purchase that can be hired or leased. Ask each shortlisted company for a quote on the same scope, and run your own labour figures through FlyWei's free ROI calculator to see what payback you need.

How long does warehouse automation take to install?

Timescales differ by type. Fixed shuttle, crane and grid systems involve steelwork and are planned in phases over many months; the companies in this list do not publish standard durations. An autonomous forklift fleet from FlyWei runs 8 to 14 weeks from site survey to go-live on a standard single-site deployment, because the trucks navigate by laser SLAM and need no floor works or reflectors.

Which warehouse automation companies offer hire, lease or robots as a service?

On the pages checked, Locus Robotics offers Robots-as-a-Service, Guidance Automation invoices Automation by the Hour with 30 days notice, Avanta lists leasing and finance, and FlyWei offers purchase, hire with the term agreed per site, and leasing over 3, 5 or 7 years subject to credit approval. Most fixed-system integrators do not state a hire route on their public pages.

Is AutoStore sold direct in the UK?

No. AutoStore states that its systems are designed, installed and serviced by a network of qualified partner integrators. In this directory the partners with UK teams are Element Logic (the first and largest AutoStore partner), Swisslog and Dematic. AutoStore lists a UK office but the address is not stated on the pages checked.

Does FlyWei do goods-to-person or conveyor systems?

No. FlyWei is a vendor-neutral integrator of autonomous forklifts, lifting robots and AMRs, run on the M4 fleet manager over VDA 5050, with REST integration to WMS, WCS and ERP platforms. For grid or shuttle storage we would point you at the goods-to-person and AS/RS companies above and, where the site needs both, connect the pallet side to them.

Which of these companies state VDA 5050 support?

Only FlyWei states VDA 5050 on the pages checked for this list; its M4 fleet manager runs mixed fleets over the standard. Among the wider forklift automation field, Jungheinrich, KUKA and MiR also state it (see the autonomous forklift directory). For fixed AS/RS systems the standard is less relevant, because the vehicles never leave the vendor's own structure.
